Brazilian operator Log-In Logistics posted a record EBITDA of US$116 million for 2022, after its fleet capacity peaked at 442,000 TEUs, reports Alphaliner.
Cabotage activities contributed to three quarters of the profits with US$84.533 million, representing an increase of almost 50% year-on-year.
The second main activity of the group, Terminal Vila Velha (TVV), located in the state of Espíríto Santo, north of Rio de Janeiro, contributed with the majority of the remaining EBITDA, managing a total of US$28,428 million, counting on a 26% increase over the previous year.
A pesar de una señal de mejora en el volumen de carga en la terminal TVV durante el último trimestre, decayó 11,5% durante el año.
What is Log-In?
The company was acquired by MSC at the beginning of 2022 and they specialize in coastal shipping, intermodal and container operations. They attribute their financial results to their pricing strategy, more profitable cargo and greater vessel availability. This is remarkable, since Log-In saw an increase in its profits in the fourth quarter of the year, unlike many other international shipping companies.
